Brand Chemistry: 2009 College Rebrandings

Ken Steele reviews some Canadian college rebrandings from 2009, starting with Newfoundland and Labrador’s College of the North Atlantic, and Manitoba’s University College of the North. Niagara College revised its old logo, which resembled the AT&T logo of the 1960s, to a less representational icon in a distinctive circle. Sault College, from Sault Ste Marie Ontario, revised a finicky and unbalanced logo to one that is much more contemporary, with light gray type and good use of negative space. Sault also undertook a massive facelift of the campus, and launched a series of peppy ads.
