Institution: University of Calgary, Alberta
Implementation Date: November 2009
Many campuses have reconfigured student services on campus to make it easier for students and prospective students, by consolidating disparate offices into a “one-stop shop” in a single location. I’ve now seen these at many institutions, including McGill, Mohawk College, Camosun College, and Western University – but the first I came across was at the University of Calgary in November 2009.
UofC Student & Enrolment Services created a single “Service One” centre (now renamed “Service Stop”) to integrate the functions of the registrar, financial aid, bursar, registration and transcripts under a single roof. A comfortable lounge-like waiting area has become so popular with students that it is used for study space at non-peak times of year.
