Higher Education Disrupted by Pandemic

90-120 min keynote presentation

Coping with COVID-19

In a few short weeks in late March 2020, a novel Coronavirus shut down our nation’s borders, airports, campuses, and entire economy. On a daily basis, Ken Steele has been meticulously tracking health precautions, closures, announcements and impacts on a sample of about 90 colleges and universities across Canada. He has examined the policy decisions, procedures, and publicity arising from each institution, and tracking trends and data from higher ed worldwide in response to the greatest disruption in living memory.

As institutions plan for the next semester, next year, and beyond, they can benefit from patterns and projections to guide campus reopenings, program offerings, recruitment marketing and strategic planning. In this fast-paced session, Canada’s leading higher ed futurist Ken Steele will share an overview of the obvious and more subtle impacts of the COVID19 crisis, and the ways it will shape the future of our campuses in the short-term, and for years to come.

Ken Steele is Canada’s leading higher education monitor and futurist. He co-founded Academica Group, created the Academica Top Ten, manages Eduvation Inc, co-authored Canada’s first book on enrolment management, publishes a daily email newsbrief the Eduvation Insider, and hosts a weekly webcast, Ten with Ken, that reaches thousands of subscribers on a dozen platforms.
